Hello there - Vijay Anand ofthe Proto fame :) suggested about this club to me.. A quick summary about me, I spent 15yrs at MSFT and bootstrapped my company in 2007. We are a preferred Microsoft vendor focused on Virtualization and Security in the Infrastructure Optimization Space. I am exploring opening a subsidiary office in Chennai. You can find more about me on LinkedIn.
Couple of questions wondering if folks can help me get prepared. I will be landing in Chennai Jul 1st.
1. How easy is it to open an LLC or an equivalent company structure in India. Any gotchas to think about. Are there any good folks anybody can recommend who can get the whole thing setup (legitimately!) for some reasonable fees startups can afford?
2. Is there a concept of a PO Box or mailing address or even an "earthclass mail" company concept in india - if not its a great biz idea btw :). Is it easy to open a business acount in a bank ?
3. I am looking to meet (Microsoft) infrastructure consultants (junior and director level folks) and interview a few folks for potential opportunities in India working through Microsoft as we do in the US... if they are available to meet and explore. I have a job description - little 'r' me if you see this and are interested and I will send it to you!
I attended a proto.in event back in 2006 where Sunil Gavaskar came to Tidel Park.. and from what I have seen you guys have exploded in India! Congrats to the organizing team..
Hi Krishnan,
Welcome to Chennai OCC. One of the things you may want to consider may be business incubators or partnering with some Indian company to build deliver and transfer. If you are planning to spend some time here, then you can go it alone.
How big is the operation, in terms of number of people.
I will be in Seattle after 16th of Jul and will try to meet with you.
If you are looking at incorporating the company there are lot of pros in chennai who do a good job. Incorporation should not take more than Rs.40,000/- assuming you start off with low authorised capital. Since this is a subsidiary of an American outfit, RBI formalities are involved and you need to have a transfer pricing mechanism to pass thro' tax laws. There are quite a few experts available. (Not to worry - That's not my domain!!)
gururam, hello there i'd be interested please pass on your contact details. i will be in chennai this weekend and will be attending the occ in the evening.
