A place for the startup ecosystem around Chennai

Hello everyone,

My startup is looking around for a small group of web designers to collaborate with on some upcoming projects. The idea is to set up a relationship of continuous engagement with the web designers employing them over the course of the next 3-4 months on various small-ish projects via small duration, easy to manage contracts. The short term plan is to supplant our small team with relevant skills (which admittedly are in low supply in house right now) from external agencies and slowly transitioning the work to in house talent in the long term.

The skill sets we're looking for - very strong XHTML/CSS/JavaScript.
[U: Since some AJAX functionality requirements might need server side work, some knowledge of Python and/or the django framework would come in very handy. This is not mandatory, just a "would like to have" factor.]

Since we're a fledgling startup, we're looking for like minded individuals/groups - i.e. someone who's aware of our limited resources and would be willing to look at creative ways of arriving at estimation and costing.

If this group has any suggestions for someone I can get in touch with for this work, that'd be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Best,
Vignesh.

One suggestion is to break your requirement into two groups - XHTML/CSS/Javascript and Python/Django. This may increase your chances of finding more options.

Hi Dorai

Thanks for the suggestion. Since our web application is powered by django, some knowledge of python/django would go a very long way in closing the loop on any AJAX like functionality (which is where we need a lot of the work done). That's why I'd thrown it in there.

However, I agree with your suggestion - perhaps, in the interests finding more options, it is better to leave out the fluff and focus on the core requirement of front end developers. I'll update the post accordingly.

Thanks,
Best,
Vignesh.

Once you get basic css/js people, you can teach them to use templates (which is the connection). That way you can keep the core logic in house and outsource the place where you need skills most. Easier said than done :) I know. But worth a try.

The folks at RailsFactory (http://www.railsfactory.com) might be able to help you. I have not used their services personally, but I do know that they work with small teams and they have a separate team for web design (without rails)

Hi Prakash,

Thanks for your message.

Sure, working at home is definitely an option. I'd prefer someone Chennai based however, since frequent meetings might be necessary.

Thanks,
